10 Haiku

This morning I saw
a spider dead in his web—
and swept him away

That dollop dropping
from a plump bird on a branch
is no snowflake, man!

Rushing to meet her—
a man asks for five dollars
and I give him ten

*

I giggle to see
a giggling face in the wall—
patch of plaster

Crowing the rough roof
if a decrepit old house—
tv antenna

A smell or a glimpse
and suddenly I’m somewhere
else : Bulgaria!

*

Gruff buses plowing
through lakes of rain in the street—
gushing steamy sound

Startled from typing—
the yard’s full of squalling birds!
Grey late spring morning

Chewing a sandwich
by the train tracks—homeless man
with red rosy cheeks

*

A green peak glowing
in cloud-veiled morning spring sun—
Mount Tamalpais
