Flashes Six

Amazed
by the stillness
of an animal

Faces in the trees
and the rocks
and the sky

Despairing
because you can’t
set the world right

Drinking
dazes
me

*

My friends—
please forgive
my foolishness

Scars of tears
on an old
man’s face

His mind—
a lumpy
diamond

A life
like riding
waves

*

One of those days
when the sky
hurts your eyes

Flute:
epitome
of music

Two men with the same face
emptying
their dead father’s house

The holy
loneliness
of self-discipline

Worlds where
monkeys roam
the streets

.
