6 Haiku

Pink glow of sunrise
on a tan stone warehouse wall—
bloom of the new year

Meditative day—
gazing back from the mirror,
two unmuddied eyes

Blinking like a cat
in the dazzling morning sun—
dusty train windows

*

Screech of a spigot—
the bright water-smooth singing
of the hummingbirds

Still winter evening—
a sudden burst of birdsong,
then silence again

Pink sun and chalk moon
hypnotizing each other
across a cold sky
